Arrest Kelly Khumalo hashtag trends on South African social media platforms following allegations that she ordered the hit to get Senzo killed. This, following an affidavit stated by Brigadier Bongani Gininda at the North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday. Brigadier Gininda attested in his affidavit, on November 2020, that Kelly ordered Sibaya Mazikawukhulelwa and Ntanzi Bongani together to shoot Senzo Meyiwa.
Brigadier Gininda’s allegations
In October 2014, Meyiwa was shot and killed inside Khelly’s family house. Khelly, Zandile(sister), Longwe Twala( Zandile’s boyfriend)Ntombi Khumalo(Khelly’s mother)and Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala, two of Meyiwa’s friends were present in the house on that tragic day.
The court heard earlier this week that the murder of Meyiwa was not a poorly executed robbery, unlike what the witnesses had first said. More accurately, it was planned out murder. The affidavit also disclosed that Khelly had four mobile numbers associated with her that she had concealed. These numbers, according to investigations, connected Khelly to both the third and fifth accused, Mthobisi Ncube and Fisokuhle Ntuli.
“It was further discovered that, through cellphone analysis, her cellphone memory album has the same photo of a see-through bag containing cash notes and in the exact position or location or spot as that of accused number three.”
According to Gininda, there is no plausible explanation for Khumalo’s communication with her Senzo’s killers. The hitmaker also allegedly desired to get rid of Senzo dating back in 2013 when they were still going through their ups and downs.This is according to correspondence between her and her sister, Zandi.
Gininda’s defense
“Cellphone records show that after the incident took place, she called a number of people but no call was made to emergency services. She also subsequently went to [a traditional healer] for cleansing as it was done by her other accused in this matter,” Gininda claimed.
